The Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Broadcasting at Lipscomb University, Jamie Gilliam is responsible for the leadership, assignments, strategic direction and oversight of all aspects of Lipscomb Athletics communications.
Along with those responsibilities, Gilliam serves as the primary media relations contact for the Lipscomb men's basketball and men’s and women’s golf teams. He also serves as the executive/coordinating producer for the Lipscomb Radio Network and ESPN3/ASun.TV video productions. Gilliam also oversees the department's social media and website efforts and manages the communications staff.
Gilliam was promoted to assistant athletic director in September 2015 after spending three years as the Director of Athletic Communications. During that period, he oversaw the expansion of the department’s video production arm to include broadcasting more than 40 broadcasts annually on ESPN3.
Prior to joining the Lipscomb staff in 2011 as Athletics Communications Manager, Gilliam spent a decade at the University of Alabama in Huntsville as Sports Information Coordinator where he served as the primary contact for the Chargers’ NCAA Division I ice hockey team as well as the NCAA Division II baseball and men’s and women’s soccer programs.
A native of Decatur, Ala., Gilliam studied communications at Mississippi State University where he served as a student assistant in the Athletic Media Relations Department helping in day-to-day promotion of Bulldog athletics. While a part of the Mississippi State staff, Jamie served as the primary contact for both the men and women's track and field squads during their 2000 campaign. During his time in Starkville, Gilliam worked for ESPN, ESPN2, Jefferson Pilot, Comcast Charter Sports, and College Sports Southeast assisting with various gameday duties.
In addition to his duties at UAH, Gilliam has served as an official scorer for the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament, the Huntsville Stars and the now defunct Huntsville Flight of the National Basketball Development League (NBDL). He also served during the 2008-09 season as Assistant Commissioner of Public Relations for College Hockey America.
Gilliam got his start in sports information at Austin High School, where he served as statistician for the boy's basketball and baseball squads before graduating in 1995. That work earned him a scholarship to Calhoun Community College where he worked as statistician for the Warhawk basketball and baseball teams in 1996 and 1997.
Gilliam is married to the former Beth Evans and the couple resides in south Nashville.
