Marcus Evans

Marcus Evans enters his first year on Lipscomb University staff and will serve as the Assistant Coach working with the sprinters and hurdlers. Coach Evans most recently was an Assistant Coach at NCAA Division III Adrian College in Michigan, where he helped the sprinters, hurdlers and high jump.

In his first year at Adrian, Evans coached five MIAA conference champion sprinters and a NCAA Division III high jump qualifier. One of Evan’s sprinters Kelsea Sellers broke the Adrian School record in 100m.

Evans competed in track and field as a hurdler for Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville as a hurdler as the school made a transition from NCAA Division II to Division I. Evans was a team captain and served as Vice President and member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Evans is a two-time Division II NCAA provisional qualifier and Division I regional qualifier in the 400 meter hurdles. Evans is also a SIUE record holder as a member of the sprint medley relay. Evans earned GLVC all conference honors as a 200 meter hurdle indoor champion and member of the 4x400 meter relay team.

In 2010 Evans earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Television and Radio from SIUE. Evans will pursue a Master’s degree in Conflict Management from Lipscomb University. In 2011 Evans complete USATF Level I certification.

Evans is from Skokie, Illinois where he competed in basketball, track and field, and cross country for Niles North High School.
