Ariel Massengale

Assistant Coach


Ariel Massengale is in her first season as an assistant coach under Lipscomb women’s basketball head coach Lauren Sumski.

Massengale most recently was a graduate assistant at the University of Mississippi from 2017-2019 where she assisted with scouting and recruiting.

Ranked No.4 in 2011 espnW Hoopgurlz top 100, Massengale committed to the University of Tennessee and played for legendary Coach Pat Summitt. During her time in Knoxville, Massengale was named to the SEC All-Freshman team and led her team to two regular season Southeastern Conference titles and two Southeastern Conference tournament titles.

Massengale went into college as a decorated high school athlete from Bolingbrook High School in Bolingbrook, IL. She was named a McDonald’s All- American, Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-American, Illinois Gatorade player of the Year, Illinois Miss Basketball, a 3-time Illinois High School Association state champion and holds four USA Basketball gold medals.

Massengale competed for our country in the U16 FIBA Americas (Mexico City), U17 World Cup (Rodez, France), U19 World Championships (Spain) and World University games (Kazan, Russia).

Massengale was drafted in the 3rd round (29th pick) of the 2015 WNBA draft by the Atlanta Dream and spent a season playing overseas for Catz in Lapparenta, Finland. Unfortunately, due to injuries Ariel playing career was cut short.

Massengale graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management before earning her master’s in Sport and Recreation Administration from the University of Mississippi.
