Lipscomb baseball left Nashville early Friday morning for a week-long mission trip in the Dominican Republic. The Bisons arrived late Friday in time for supper and a greeting with a "ginormous" spider.

On Tuesday Lipscomb head baseball coach Jeff Forehand announced the Bisons’ 2015 schedule, highlighted by four NCAA Tournament teams, two of which will travel to Music City. The 55-game slate features 32 homes games inside Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium.

The Lipscomb baseball team wrapped up its 2014 Omaha Challenge by naming Dalton Curtis (left) the top pitcher with 490 points, while Lee Solomon (right) and Jonathan Allison (not pictured) were crowned overall co-champions with 531 points each.

It all comes down to Thursday, the final day of competition, to see who gets crowned the 2014 Lipscomb Baseball Omaha Challenge champions. Lee Solomon and Dalton Curtis currently hold a slight lead in their respective groups, while it is Team Hoss holding steady for the team lead.

The Lipscomb baseball team started its annual Omaha Challenge challenge last week with the players competing against one another for the right to be crowned champion. The event consists of 20 individual events and eight team events. There will be two individual winners – one pitcher and one position player.

For the second consecutive season the Lipscomb baseball team is soaring to new heights with a back-to-back top-100 signing class as head coach Jeff Forehand has added 10 players to the 2016 roster in the early signing period. The class ranks 61st by PerfectGame.org.

The Lipscomb baseball team will venture on its first-ever mission trip December 12-19. The group will be traveling to the Dominican Republic where they will refurbish a sandlot baseball field while also spreading the word of God.

The Lipscomb baseball team is set to begin its annual Purple vs. Gold World Series Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. at Ken Dugan Field. The Bisons will play a best-of-three series with games two and three scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

The Lipscomb baseball team gave back to the Pujols Family Foundation this past Saturday by providing a day for kids with Down syndrome in the Nashville area to come out and enjoy some baseball.

Former Lipscomb baseball player Caleb Joseph was the only rookie selected to the Baltimore Orioles 25-man ALDS roster by skipper Buck Showalter Thursday. His spot marks the first time in school history a Bison has made a MLB postseason roster.
