Wynn Fletcher has resigned his position as head baseball coach at Lipscomb University after six seasons with the Bisons.
His resignation is effective immediately.
"Wynn Fletcher has resigned as head baseball coach at Lipscomb University in order to pursue other opportunities," said Lipscomb athletics director Dr. Steve Potts. "Coach Fletcher guided our program through the very difficult and challenging transition from the NAIA to the NCAA Division I. He built a foundation on which we can continue our quest to build a high quality Division I baseball program. We thank him for his work here and wish him great success in his future endeavors."
Fletcher compiled a 123-185 record for the Bisons in six seasons. He was the head coach at Faulkner University for four seasons before coming to Lipscomb in 2001.
The Bisons were 22-32 this season, 11-19 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
"I want to thank former University President Steve Flatt, and current Athletic Director Dr. Steve Potts for giving me the opportunity to serve as head coach at the Division I level," said Fletcher in his letter dated May 30. "During my tenure as head coach, we aggressively took on the challenges of transitioning from the NAIA to the NCAA Division I level.
"I am confident that we have achieved many of the goals that we set out to accomplish, and that the program has reached a competitive status within the highly ranked Atlantic Sun Conference. My wife and I are extremely thankful for the relationships we have gained during our time here, but it is the right time for us to explore other career opportunities."
Fletcher was the 15th baseball coach in Lipscomb history. The search for a new head baseball coach has already begun.
