Bisons' sophomore left-hander, Rex Brothers, claimed another honor on Friday, when he was named Pitcher of the Year in the Atlantic Sun Conference pre-season polls.

Last season, Brothers, the Bisons' ace, impressed opponents with a 7-4 record and 93 strikeouts.

In addition, junior catcher, Caleb Joseph, a member of the 2007 Atlantic Sun All Conference team, split preseason Player of the Year honors with Stetson' Justin Bass. Joseph, who led the Bisons in batting average last season with a .339 mark was a unanimous selection.

Overall, the Stetson Hatters were picked to once again finish first in the league, with the Bisons chosen fifth, although Lipscomb did receive one first place vote.

The Bisons will kick off their season on February 22, when they travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to take on Southern Miss.
