Bisons can't get on track at FGCU

The Bisons trip to Florida hasn’t had much sunshine.

Saturday afternoon they lost for their second game in a row in their Atlantic Sun series at Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Fla. The Bisons were shutout 8-0 at Swanson Stadium.

Two Bisons, M.L. Williams and Branden Cadavid, had two hits in the game. The Bisons managed only six hits against three Florida Gulf Coast pitchers.

Florida Gulf Coast scored three runs in the second, two runs in the third and three runs in the seventh.

Junior right-hander Josh Smith, 4-3, started for the Bisons. He gave up nine hits and five runs, all earned. He walked three and struck out eight.

Charles Williams closed out the game for the Bisons allowing three hits and three runs, all earned. He walked three and struck out one.

The Bisons will try to get their bats back on track Sunday morning at 10 when they close out the series.

Senior right-hander Brandon McClurg, 3-3 with a 4.57 earned run average, is expected to start for the Bisons.

The Bisons fell to 15-23m 10-7 in the A-Sun. Florida Gulf Coast is 21-14, 12-5 in the conference.
