NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A pair of junior college transfers are set to join the Lipscomb baseball team for 2014 as right-handed pitcher Ian Martinez McGraw and Grant Massey have signed National Letters of Intent as announced by head coach Jeff Forehand on Monday.

A native of Pueblo, Colo, Martinez-McGraw leads Otero Junior College with 71 innings pitched in 11 appearances for the Rattlers.  The righty is 5-3 on the season with a 4.18 ERA having averaged 8.24 strikeouts per outing.

“Ian is going to be a great addition to our pitching staff,” said Forehand. “He has a tremendous upside and should make an immediate impact in our rotation.”

Massey joins the Bisons after two seasons at Gordon State College where he has seen action in more than 110 games committing just 32 errors in that span.  As a freshman, Massey hit .295 with 46 runs scored, 17 doubles and 33 RBIs.  This season, Massey is hitting .205 with 10 doubles for the Highlanders.

“Grant comes to us after winning a Gold Glove award last spring,” said Forehand.  “He is an athletic infielder that has the tools to make all the plays at shortstop.”

Martinez-McGraw and Massey are set to join high schoolers Hunter Anglin, Cameron Bair,Hunter Hanks, Caleb Herndon and John Pryor along with junior college hurlers Nick Andros, Cory Farrow and Jazon Ziegler, who signed last fall.
