MACON, Ga. – Lipscomb baseball senior pitcher Josh Cotham and junior outfielder Drew Adams picked up a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference awards on Tuesday as announced by the league. Cotham was named to the 2013 Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic team while Adams garnered second-team All-Atlantic Sun honors.
“I can’t say enough about these two guys,” said Lipscomb head coach Jeff Forehand. “They have both been a big part of our success this year and especially the last month of the season. Josh has been tremendous on the mound for us recently and Drew has been a key player up at the top of the lineup driving in and scoring runs. They are both very deserving”
A graduate student working on his Master’s degree in sustainability, Cotham is 3-3 in conference play including a pair of complete-game appearances. The veteran righty owns a 4.12 ERA on the mound and was named the A-Sun Pitcher of the Week on May 6 after throwing a three-hit, complete-game, 1-0 shutout at Northern Kentucky. Cotham was named the top student in the Lipscomb business department upon receiving his Bachelor’s degree last spring as well as being a 2012 A-Sun All-Academic selection.
A winner of the prestigious Ken Dugan Award last Friday, Adams leads the Bisons in hitting in conference games hitting .333 along with scoring a team best 18 runs. The junior has posted a .483 on base percentage along with seven doubles, two triples and a home run primarily as the designated hitter for Lipscomb.
Lipscomb is set to open the 2013 Atlantic Sun Championships as the No. 6 seed on Wednesday night at 7:15 p.m. CT in Deland, Fla.
