Baseball inks highest ranked class in school history for 2015

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Ranked as the highest signing class in school history and the first in the top-100 nationally, Lipscomb baseball head coach Jeff Forehand has added 10 players to the 2015 roster in the early signing period.

PerfectGame.org ranks the 2014 signing class for the Bisons 81st in the nation marking the first time the Bisons have cracked the top-100 nationally. Lipscomb comes in third in the state trailing only Vanderbilt and Tennessee.

“There is no doubt in my mind that these guys are going to make a tremendous impact on our team,” said Forehand.  “They are guys that are not only talented but also are great fits for Lipscomb.

Brian Ryman did an amazing job coordinating an implementing this signing class.  He put us in the right spot at the right time and was able to put together the best class in school history.  He and our staff put in a great deal of time and effort to show these guys what a special place we have at Lipscomb University.”

Jeffrey Crisan – Apopka, Fla. – Apopka High School – 6-1 – 215 lbs – C

“Jeffery is a solid player that can make an immediate impact.  We saw him play this summer several times and comes very highly recommended to us.  On his visit to campus, we thought that he could see himself here and so did we.  He has great potential and drive to be the best player on the field and a great person off the field and know that Lipscomb was the right place for him.”

Michael Gigliotti – Davie, Fla. – Archbishop Edward McCarthy High School – 6-1 – 170 lbs – OF

“Michael is an athletic player that comes from a great program in Florida.  He has a great instinct for the game and will be able to help us in many ways.  He came on a visit with his coach this summer and felt like Lipscomb was the place for him.  We look forward to seeing what is next for him on the field and look forward to everyone getting to know a great teammate and an awesome addition to our campus.”

Benton Jones – Brentwood, Tenn. – Brentwood High School – 6-0 – 180 lbs – C

“Benton is a local guy that has spent a lot of time around our program, and knew that this was the right place for him for a long time & so did we.  His early commitment was not a surprise to most because Lipscomb has everything he wanted athletically, academically, spiritually and socially.  Our coaching staff saw him play several times we are excited to see how he will fit into our team this fall.  He has played a lot of baseball preparing for this opportunity and it is a privilege to add him to our catching corps.”

Kyle Kemp – Port Charlotte, Fla. – Bishop Verot High School – 6-2 – 210 lbs – RHP

“Kyle is a top rated player in the state of Florida and is going to be a great addition to our pitching staff.  He has the work ethic and the determination to be an outstanding pitcher for us and make an immediate impact on the field.  Kyle fits right into our school, he was looking for exactly what Lipscomb University is all about.  We look forward to having Kyle as a part of our family.”

Blake O’Neal – Orlando, Fla. – Lake Highland Prepatory High School – 6-2 – 199 lbs – RHP

“Blake has a tremendous upside and work ethic that will make him a great addition to our pitching staff.  He is passionate & always thinking about the game, always wanting to get better & know more about it.  We look forward to working with him. He is a great fit for our school in all aspects. He understands the school culture and team culture to instantly make him ready to compete on the field but most importantly how he is going to immediately fit in on campus.”

Jeffrey Passantino – Cape Coral, Fla. – Bishop Verot High School – 5-10 – 195 lbs – RHP

“Jeffrey comes from a great baseball background and has played great competition for several years.  He instantly knew Lipscomb was the place for him as he decided very early that he was going to be a Bison.  He visited campus and knew that this was the environment athletically, academically and socially that he wanted.  He will impact us on the field and Lipscomb will impact him off the field.”

Brady Puckett – Murfreesboro, Tenn. – Riverdale High School – 6-8 – 225 lbs – RHP

“Brady was highly recruited but felt like Lipscomb was the fit for him and his family.  He has a tremendous upside.  We are anxious to see how much more he is going to develop during his senior season and the jump he is going to make here the coming fall.  The sky is the limit for Brady.  He can be as good as he wants to be.  We are excited to see how he is going to fit into our staff as a freshman because he can make instant impact.”

Lee Solomon – Columbus, Ohio – Columbus Academy – 5-10 – 185 –INF

“Lee is an athletic guy that plays several sports.  We saw him play this summer and sensed that he would be a good fit at Lipscomb.  He does everything that we want to see a player do from his work ethic to how he performs on the field.  We see him being a great fit to our school and our team.  Everyone that we contacted had nothing but great things to say about Lee and we are proud the he is going to be a Bison.”

Tevin Symonette – Nassau, Bahamas – Christian Home and Bible School – 6-0 – 200 – OF

“Tevin is a strong athletic player that can be an immediate impact guy.  He comes to us highly recommended and as we got to know him this summer knew that this guy would be a great for Lipscomb University and our baseball program.  He didn't know a lot about us at first but now he is going to be great fit for us.  He has the opportunity to do a lot of good things on the field and is a great person off the diamond.”

Kyle Weller – Pleasant Plains, Ill. – Parkland College – 6-1 – 190 – RHP
