MACON, Ga. – Lipscomb baseball hurler Denton Norman took home the Atlantic Sun Conference’s final Pitcher of the Week honor after a dominating performance on the mound in the Saturday win over A-Sun Champion, Florida Gulf Coast, 7-1.
Norman shut down the league’s top offense, allowing just one run on four hits to improve to 7-5.
It marked the seventh time this season the sophomore exited a game after having allowed just one run or fewer.
Norman struck out a career-high nine batters in six and two-third innings pitched.
After allowing a single in the third, Norman found his groove and worked the final four innings without surrendering another hit.
This honor is Norman’s first-career A-Sun Pitcher of the Week award.
Lipscomb returns to action on Wednesday in the first round of the A-Sun Baseball Championship against Jacksonville at 7:15 p.m. CT.
