Bisons Close Out Season With 11-2 Win

A six-run sixth inning sparked the Lipscomb Bisons baseball team to an 11-2 victory Friday over Atlantic Sun foe Gardner-Webb at Varsity Field in Boiling Springs , N.C.

Preston Embrey started the sixth with a double. He scored on a single by Ryan Mitchell. Patrick O' Rourke added a two-run triple and Jeff Baumgartner slammed a two-run home run.

Baumgartner would also add a solo home run in the eighth inning. Baumgartner had three hits on the day, the other a double, and drove in four runs. Tadd Brewer also had three hits, one a double, and scored twice.

Embrey, Ryan Price, Mitchell and Whit Reed each had two hits. The Bisons poinded 17 hits in the game.

Seth Kuwik, in his final collegiate game, pitched 6.1 innings, striking out seven while allowing only two hits and no runs to pick up the victory. Kuwik ended the season with a 7-3 record.

Gardner-Webb managed only six hits. The loss broke a 12-game home winning streak for Gardner-Webb.

Lipscomb finished the season 23-33, 8-22 in the Atlantic Sun.
