Lipscomb University first baseman Ryan Mitchell has been named to the ESPN The Magazine All-Academic Team for District IV.

District IV includes NCAA Division I universities in Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, Alabama and Tennessee. The award is presented through the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Mitchell, a senior from Andalusia, Ala., has a 4.0 GPA in Biology.

He is second on the team in both batting average (.346) and slugging percentage (.523). He leads the Bisons in runs scored with 44 and is tied for the lead in home runs with six. He is third on the team in runs batted in with 26.

He is tied for second in the Atlantic Sun Conference with a 16-game active hitting streak.

It marks the second year in a row that the Lipscomb baseball team has had a player earn District IV First Team honors. Last season pitcher Seth Kuwik was selected.
