The Bisons could not avoid getting swept for the first time this season, as they were defeated by Georgia Southern 6-2, on Sunday, March 18.
The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board, scoring three runs in the first inning to jump out to an early 3-0 lead.
The Bisons pulled to within one, with two runs in the fourth, but it was as close as they would come.
Kevin Gavigan led off the fourth inning with a double to left. Caleb Joseph followed with another double to left, scoring Gavigan for the Bisons first run of the game. One out later, Shane Simpkins recorded Lipscomb's third double of the inning, plating Joseph, to bring the score to 3-2.
However, from that point on, four Eagles' pitchers, combined to shut the Bisons offense down for the remainder of the game.
Bisons' starter, Brandon McClurg, recorded the loss, his first of the season, to drop his record to 2-1. In 5.1 innings, he gave up four runs on seven hits. McClurg leads the Bisons with a 2.23 ERA.
With the loss, the Bisons' record dropped to 13-10.
The Bisons will take the field again on Friday, March 23, when they travel to Bowling Springs, NC, to take on Gardner-Webb in their first conference series of the season. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
