Right-hander, Rob Smithson, gave the Bisons another solid outing but the offense could get nothing going against Kennesaw State's Bubba Blalock, as the Bisons were shut-out 3-0 on Friday, May 4.

The Owls struck for a run in the second inning on an RBI sacrifice fly by Matt Hopkins. Smithson settled down from there, not allowing another run until the eighth when he allowed a single to Jay Morrow who advanced all the way home on three wild pitches. After walking the next batter, Jace Whitmer, Smithson was relieved by right-hander, Chris Burnett who gave up a single to Matt Dallas allowing the Owls' final run to score.

In 7.1 innings, Smithson allowed three runs on five hits, while striking out two. With the loss he dropped to 6-4.

Meanwhile, the Bisons' offense could muster only four hits off Blalock, two of which came in the second inning. From that point on, the only two Bisons' hits would come on a single by Ryan Wilkins in the fourth and a single by Caleb Joseph in the seventh.

The loss dropped the Bisons to 26-21 on the season, and 10-9 in the conference.
