Weather problems force second change in A-Sun Tournament format
The Lipscomb Bisons once again have had their first game in the Atlantic Sun Championship rescheduled.

Weather conditions Friday washed out all games in the tournament at Melching Field at Conrad Park in DeLand, Fla. Volusia County, where DeLand is located, has been hit with more than 12 inches of rain since Tuesday. More than 20 inches has fallen during that same time span in nearby Daytona Beach. Predictions were for two-to-six inches of additional rain in DeLand Friday.

The tournament has also been changed to a single elimination format with the Bisons, the No. 2-seed, playing ETSU, the No. 6 seed, Saturday morning at 10 CDT. The Bisons closed out the regular season against ETSU, beating them 6-5 and 16-7 and losing the final game of the series 14-7.

ETSU upset Stetson, the tournament host, 4-2 Thursday night. Belmont edged Mercer 6-5.

At 1:30 top-seeded Jacksonville will face No. 4-seeded Belmont.

The championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Mercer, the No. 5-seed, and Stetson, the No. 3 seed, were eliminated Thursday night in the only two games that have been played. Rain has now completely washed out the tournament schedule twice.

Weather conditions are expected to improve by Saturday, but a final game is schedued for Sunday if it is needed. The tournament must be completed by Sunday night.
