Brothers off to hot start as professional

Two months after closing his collegiate career with a solid outing at the Atlantic Sun Tournament in DeLand, Fla., Rex Brothers is 3,000 miles away starting his professional career for the Tri-City Dust Devils.

Brothers, selected 34th overall by the Colorado Rockies in the June Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft, made his professional debut last Friday in the fifth inning at Everett.

Brothers struck out the first two batters he faced.  His inning pitched earned him the win in Tri-City’s 8-5 decision.

Brothers has made two additional relief appearances for the Dust Devils.  Sunday he struck out two Everett batters in an inning of action.  On Tuesday he tossed two innings against Salem-Keizer to notch his second professional win.

In his first three appearances Brothers has struck out eight while giving up only one hit and one walk.
