Baseball drops mid-week game to Austin Peay 4-3
The Bisons traveled to Clarksville to take on Austin Peay tonight in a mid-week match up but fell to the Governors 4-3.

The Bisons jumped ahead in the third inning when ML Williams singled to center field.  Williams then stole second and moved to third on a ground ball to the infield. Williams then came home on a passed ball.

After an unanswered bottom of the third, Lipscomb added to their lead. With one out, Ryan Wilkins singled to left center field. Wilkins stole second and then was pushed across the plate with a double to left by Brett Teschner.

Down by two, Austin Peay took advantage of three hits and a balk to tie up the score 2-2.

The game would remain tied up until the eigth inning, when Austin Peay capitalized on a single and fielder’s choice to lead 3-2.

Lipscomb answered back in the top of the ninth. Williams hit a double to left field and scored when Lee Wilson singled up the middle, making it a tie game going into the bottom of the ninth.

Austin Peay wasted no time as they got their leader off batter on base after a wild pitch on a third strike. Their runner stole second and then moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. Austin Peay then crossed the plate on another bunt to win the game 4-3.

Chris Nunn got the start on the mound for Lipscomb. He went four innings, giving up four hits and two runs. He struck out three and walked two.

Davey Hackett pitched the fifth inning for the Bisons, giving up just one hit and no runs.

Josh Cotham went three innings in the circle, giving up one hit and one run, and struck out two.

Dannie Strable, who came in for the ninth inning, picks up the loss for the Bisons, bringing his record to 0-3, and the Bisons to 6-15 overall.

Williams and Wilson were both 2-4 for the Bisons.

Cory Hale, Zach Messer, TJ Hoelzer, Wilkins, and Teschner each added a hit for Lipscomb.

The Bisons start conference play this weekend at home as they take on ETSU Friday at 6 p.m. and then a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m. You can listen live both days, with Saturday’s game also being featured on Asun TV.
