Bisons close out season against Campbell
The Lipscomb Bisons baseball team fell 5-4 in 10 innings at Campbell University Thursda in Buies Creek, N.C..

Two walks, one intentional and hit batter combined to load the basesfor Campbell in the 10th. Kevin Nelson hit a ground ball to the left side of Lipscomb shortstop Kyle Henry who was not able to make a play, missing potential double play that would have ended the inning. Instead, the grounder by Campbell’s Kevin Nelson brought in Alan Denman with the winning run.

The Bisons end both the series and the season Friday at noon with a doubleheader against the Camels.

First baseman Ryan Wilkins led the Bisons with two hits. They finished with nine for the game. Left fielder M.L. Williams had the only extra base hit for the Bisons, a double, his 10th of the year.

Senior right-hander Josh Smith made his last start of his career for the Bisons. He pitched seven innings and gave up eight hits and four runs, three earned. He walked one and struck out nine. He did not get a decision.

Alex Ross pitched the final 2.1 innings. He gave up one hit and one earned run to take the loss. His record is 2-4. He walked two batters and did not record a strikeout.

The Bisons are 18-35 overall, 8-16 in the A-Sun. Campbell is 27-26 overall, 7-18 in the conference.

The Atlantic Sun baseball tournament begins Wednesday at Lipscomb’s Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium.
