Friday, March 11, 2011The Lipscomb Bisons first ever baseball game against the Ole Miss Rebels was a less than successful debut.
Ole Miss, the first of three Southeastern Conference opponents the Bisons will face in March, prevailed 8-0 Friday night at University Stadium in Oxford, Miss.
Left-hander Richie Goodenow, 0-3, pitched seven innings for the Bisons. He allowed eight hits and six runs. He struck out 10 and walked two.
Mike Grace closed out the game. He gave up two hits and two runs in the eighth inning.
Ole Miss scored five runs in the sixth and one in the seventh in addition to the two in the eighth.
Left-hander Matt Crouse threw a complete game for Ole Miss. He struck out nine and scattered four hits.
Third baseman Josh Chism led the Bisons with two hits. Goodenow and Kyle Henry each had one.
The Bisons will send right-hander Connor Sinclair, 1-1 with a 1.50 earned run average, to the mound Saturday at 1:30.
The Bisons are 7-7. Ole Miss is 11-4.
