Hostettler records three hits; Bisons fall 2-1 to Bucs
Lipscomb junior catcher Logan Hostettler reached base four times and scattered three hits for the Bisons in a 2-1 loss at ETSU Friday evening.  The Buccaneers’ John Long controlled the Bisons from the pitching rubber limiting Lipscomb to five hits over eight innings.

Junior left fielder M.L. Williams had two hits and scored Lipscomb’s only run.  Williams opened the game with a double to right-center field.  Sophomore short stop T.J. Hoelzer hit the next pitch off the pitcher reechoing into left field and driving in Williams.

ETSU scored its two runs in the bottom of the first on a two-run homer by Bo Reeder, the Bucs’ second batter of the game.

Bisons starting pitcher Blake Fonfara tossed five innings scattering six hits and two runs, both earned.  He struck out four and walked three.  Mike Grace pitched 2.2 innings of two-hit relief and Gil Rehwinkel recorded the final out.

Lipscomb strung together a pair of one-out hits in the ninth inning to put runners on the corners.  Kyle Henry and Shawn Mehring each struck out to end the game.

The Bisons had a total of ten base runners on the evening but those were spread across seven innings.

Lipscomb dropped to 11-19, 3-7 in the A-Sun.  ETSU improved to 18-9, 9-5 in the A-Sun.  Long (3-3) received the win and Reeder notched his 11th save of the year.
