Cotham named A-Sun Pitcher of the Week after shutout

MACON, Ga. – A day after throwing the first complete-game shutout for Lipscomb in over two years, redshirt-junior Josh Cotham has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league on Monday.

With the A-Sun series against Florida Gulf Coast on the line, the Mt. Juliet, Tenn. Native hit the field on Sunday and dominated the Eagles allowing only four hits on the afternoon as the Bisons won 11-0.  The veteran righty was in command all afternoon fanning seven FGCU batters without walking a single Eagle.

“We’ve got a lot of good pitchers in this league,” said Lipscomb head coach Jeff Forehand.  “It seems like every week somebody throws a complete game. I can’t say enough about Josh’s performance yesterday for him personally and also for our team.

“When you get that kind of performance on Sunday and you don’t have to go to the bullpen, it’s huge a lift for your team.  Hopefully, Josh can build off of that and be ready for next weekend.”

Cotham’s award is the first A-Sun Pitcher of the Week award for the Bisons this season.  Cotham joins teammates Zak Messer and Aaron Sandoval as weekly award winners for Lipscomb this spring.
