NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Another Ashcraft has joined the Lipscomb baseball program for the 2013 season as Trent Ashcraft has been tabbed by head coach Jeff Forehand as the volunteer assistant joining his younger brother Tyson, a sophomore infielder, as part of the team.
“Trent is a great addition to our team,” said Forehand. “He was a very good college player and comes to us with a lot of experience and is going to be able to lead our outfield and be in charge of some of our hitting. We’re looking forward to having him as part of our staff.”
Ashcraft joins the baseball program after serving as hitting and outfield coach at NCAA Division II Young Harris College where the Mountain Lions ranked in the top-20 nationally in 15 offensive categories.
“I’m really excited to be here at Lipscomb and to be a part of everything that’s going on with the University,” said the Nashville native. “I’m glad to be back home and get the chance to work with Coach Forehand. It’s also great to work in an environment teaching life’s lessons and always keeping our relationship with God at the forefront of what we’re trying to do.”
Prior to beginning his coaching career in the state of Georgia, Ashcraft played for East Carolina. During his tenure as a Pirate, ECU made three NCAA tournament appearances including an NCAA Super Regional appearance and Conference USA regular-season championship in 2009, Ashcraft’s senior year.
