Around the horn:

  • The two teams have met 17 times in the NCAA era with the Dolphins holding a 15-12 advantage in the all-time series.  Only one of those 27 games has been in the postseason coming in 2009 with Jacksonville downing Lipscomb 7-4 in DeLand, Fla.  Lipscomb took the series earlier in the season winning 2-of-3.
  • Big innings have been a large part of the success for the team in 2014. Seven times this season the Bisons have posted seven or more runs in a frame. Lipscomb has also scored four or more runs in an inning 20 times.
  • The Bisons sit atop the Atlantic Sun Conference rankings in walks (253), a figure that is the highest season total in the NCAA era. On the mound, Lipscomb leads the league in opposing batting average (.244) and fewest hits allowed (443).
  • Lipscomb ranks sixth in the nation entering the tournament in double plays having turned 60 pitcher’s best friends.
  • Junior shortstop Grant Massey ranks among the A-Sun’s leaders in multiple categories: tied for fifth in doubles (17), fourth in stolen bases (14) and eighth in runs scored (44).
  • Massey is beginning to climb the Lipscomb career charts in just one season, ranking fifth in on-base percentage (.415).
  • Senior outfielder Drew Adams ranks fifth in the A-Sun and 60th in the nation with 47 RBIs. Adams ranks 8th on Lipscomb’s career RBI chart with 79. With six career triples Adams is just one shy of tying the school’s career record of seven.
  • Lipscomb ranks ninth in the nation in walks, having drawn 253. Massey (38), Adams (35) and Mike Korte (35) rank as the top three in the A-Sun in drawing free passes.  All three are in reach of the single-season Lipscomb record of 40 set in 2005.
  • Allison is tied for fourth in the conference with four triples and is just one shy of tying Lipscomb’s single-season record.
  • Senior Jacob Knott stands tied for fourth on Lipscomb’s career-saves list with six.
  • The Bisons rank 26th in the nation with 104 doubles this season.
  • Lipscomb ranks 20th nationally with 19 triples and 40th in runs scored, plating 327.
  • With a doubleheader sweep against Oakland on March 8, Lipscomb skipper Jeff Forehand picked up career win No. 400.
