Passantino earns A-Sun Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week

MACON, Ga. – Lipscomb baseball hurler Jeffrey Passantino earned Atlantic Sun Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week  after a strong outing on the mound in Saturday’s 3-0 win over USC Upstate, announced by the league office on Monday.

The freshman made just his second career start and punched out a career-high nine batters. The win was his first collegiate victory.

His nine strikeouts are the most by a Bison since Denton Norman struck out nine against Florida Gulf Coast in May of 2014. He now leads the team with 41 strikeouts and is averaging 11.53 per nine innings pitched.

Passantino worked a career-best 7.1 innings where he only allowed four hits and did not issue a walk in the contest.

The Fort Myers, Florida native tossed a career-high 105 pitches and lowered his season ERA a full run to 3.38.

This is the first weekly honor of Passantino’s career.

Lipscomb returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Clarksville to take on Austin Peay at 6 p.m.
