MACON, Ga. – Freshman Michael Gigliotti collected the final Atlantic Sun Conference baseball weekly honor of the season after an impressive performance on the diamond this week, announced by the league office on Sunday.
The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native helped guide Lipscomb to a 3-1 week, including a sweep of Northern Kentucky over the weekend to help the Bisons clinch the No. 2 seed in next week’s A-Sun Championship.
The three wins extended Lipscomb’s road win streak to 11 games, which is tops in the nation.
Gigliotti batted .600 for the week after totaling nine hits in 15 at-bats, including a three and four-hit performance against the Norse. He also drew five walks for the week to push his on-base percentage to .700.
The speedy leadoff recorded his nation-leading 21st bunt single and scored six times during the week. He also swiped three a career high three stolen bases in the series opener at NKU.
He hit his fifth double and fourth home run of the season in Highland Heights.
Gigliotti extended his on-base streak to 26 games and his hitting streak to 11.
The honor is Gigliotti's first of his career.
The Bisons will travel to Fort Myers, Florida next week for the A-Sun Championship. They will begin play on Wednesday May 20 at 6 p.m. CT against the fifth-seeded Eagles of Florida Gulf Coast.
