Friday night lightning forces time change for A-Sun Final

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Following a five-hour weather delay in the first of two Friday elimination games in the Atlantic Sun Baseball Championship, league officials determined a schedule change in Saturday's lineup that will now push the first pitch of Lipscomb's A-Sun Finals matchup to 2 p.m. central time.

Originally scheduled for a 3 p.m. start time on Friday, No. 3 Stetson and No. 5 Florida Gulf Coast had to wait until 8 p.m. local time to take the field after a flurry of afternoon thunderstorms kept the tarp on the field. The winner earned the right to take on No. 1 North Florida 40 minutes after the game's completion, but pre-determined by A-Sun officials, if the second game did not start before 11:30 p.m. ET, it would be pushed to Saturday.

The Eagles did end up downing the Hatters 3-2, but after entering into a 10th inning, the game did not end before the curfew.

FGCU and UNF will now get underway at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the winner advancing to face Lipscomb in the championship.

Both games on Saturday will be live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.
