LaSalle visits Music City for weekend baseball series

NASHVILLE, TENN. – After dropping its last two games, the Lipscomb baseball team will look to get back on track this weekend when the La Salle Explorers makes the trek to Music City for a three-game series at Ken Dugan Field.

Friday’s first pitch has been moved up a couple of hours to 2 p.m. due to cold temperatures. Saturday is slated to start at 2 p.m. and Sunday will begin at 1 p.m.

The Bisons (3-2) opened the season with a three-game sweep of Butler Feb. 13-15 before faltering late in losses to Tennessee and Austin Peay.

Scouting the Explorers
La Salle enters the weekend 4-2 on the season after taking 2-of-3 from Atlantic Sun Conference foe Stetson in its season-opening series.

After falling 8-3 to No. 1 Virginia last Saturday, the Explorers bring to Nashville a two-game win streak after defeating Charleston Southern, 13-11, 9-8.

Senior infielder Cameron Johnson was named both Atlantic 10 and Big 5 Player of the Week after going 9-for-20 (.450) with eight RBI's over four games last week. He hit safely in all four games, including a 4-for-5 performance with four RBI in Saturday's win over Charleston Southern. Johnson also recorded three doubles on his way to a .600 slugging percentage.

Johnson is tied for 11th in the NCAA with 12 RBI’s, while Josh Savakinus is 11th with five doubles.
