SPOKANE, Wash. - Former Lipscomb pitcher Hunter Brothers has been named to the 2015 Pioneer League roster for the inaugural Pioneer-Northwest League All-Star Game.
"This is definitely an honor to be selected as an all-star," Brother said. "It is good to see the time and effort pay off."
A reliable reliever for the Grand Junction Rockies, the Rookie League affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, Brothers has been the go-to guy out of the bullpen, leading the team with 15 appearances.
The Chapel Hill, Tennessee native is 2-1 with two saves and a 4.07 ERA on the mound. In 24.1 innings of work he has struck out 27 batters, walked 12 and is holding opponents to a .240 batting average.
"It's been a good year for me so far," Brothers said. "I am having a lot of fun staying with routine and staying focused. With a month and a half left in the season, I can't pick my head up off the grind just yet."
In his three years with Lipscomb before being taken by the Rockies in the 30th round of the 2014 MLB Draft, the right-hander compiled a 7-9 record with a 4.97 ERA and 133 punch outs in 145.0 innings pitched.
The Pioneer-Northwest League All-Star Game is set for August 4 at Avista Stadium in Spokane, Washington.
