Baseball to host 2nd Annual First Pitch Dinner on Feb. 13

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Lipscomb Baseball head coach Jeff Forehand is excited to announce that Saturday, February 13 will be the date for the 2nd Annual Lipscomb Baseball First Pitch Dinner sponsored by Smokies BBQ. The dinner will be held on campus in McQuiddy Gymnasium and is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.

The night’s festivities will feature a formal introduction of the players and staff. Forehand will also be speaking to those in attendance about what is to be expected in the upcoming season.

While the dinner will be complimentary, guests are encouraged to make a minimum $25 donation as all proceeds from the annual fundraising dinner goes to support the Lipscomb Baseball Bullpen Club.

Members that make an annual gift of at least $1000 represent the highest membership level of the Lipscomb Bullpen Club and are considered Baseball Associates. Annual proceeds from the Bullpen Club are used to directly support Lipscomb student-athletes, coaches and staff. Donations help with upgrades to Ken Dugan Field at Marsh Stadium, purchase additional training equipment, supplement the travel budget and acquire additional items that allow the coaches and players to reach their highest potential.

Giving levels for the Lipscomb Baseball Bullpen Club include:
Single Level: $25 - $99
Double Level: $100 - $499
Triple Level: $500 - $999
Home Run Level: $1000 - $2499 (Baseball Associate)
Grand Slam Level: $2500 - $4999 (Baseball Associate)
No Hitter Level: $5,000 - $9999 (Baseball Associate)
Perfect Game Level: $10,000 plus (Baseball Associate)

Since the 2015 baseball season ended, a record-breaking year that saw the Bisons capture the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship and earn a berth into the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history, two major renovations have taken place at Dugan Field.

When fans arrive this spring they will enjoy Bison games in new American Seating chair backs. The new 22-inch classic stadium seating will allow fans to enjoy Bison games with more comfort.  Another major addition will be the new LED Nevco scoreboard, which includes back lit promotional panels as well as a new pitch speed Indicator.

"The support we have received over the past few years has been incredible and made possible by our former players, parents and fans who like us want to see our program continue to elevate on a national level," Forehand said.  "We are so appreciative of the tremendous gift that our dear friend Lee Marsh made to our program and challenged other donors to match his gift.  Lee is so special to our program and Lipscomb Athletics. We are also extremely appreciative of all those that made a wonderful gift to match Lee's gift" said Forehand.

"While we are excited about the recent improvements to our facility, there are several other projects that we want to achieve as we prepare to host the 2016 A-Sun Tournament.  Proceeds from this year’s dinner will go a long ways to helping us continue to enhance what we think is one of the greatest places to watch NCAA Division I Collegiate baseball.

"We look forward to our First Pitch dinner where parents, former Bison players and Lipscomb baseball fans will get a chance to meet the team and hear about the 2016 season, but also make a donation to help our program. I am also thankful to Smokies BBQ for serving as our dinner sponsor. Their support allows the gifts from the event to directly impact our players and program.”
