LAKEPOINT, Ga. - After leading the Lipscomb baseball team to a 2-0 victory over Bowling Green on Friday, junior hurler Brady Puckett has been named the ASUN Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.
They right-hander out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee held the Falcons offense to just one-hit in a complete-game performance, the sixth time in his career Puckett has gone the distance.
Puckett faced only two batters above the minimum, allowing a single in the fourth and a walk in the ninth. He needed just 96 pitches to get the win.
He struck out seven batters to bring his season punchout total to 15.
Puckett moved to 2-0 on the year with the win. The honor gives the 6-foot-9 righty six career ASUN Pitcher of the Week awards, tying him with Boston Red Sox hurler and former Florida Gulf Coast Eagle southpaw Chris Sale for the most all-time in the ASUN.
Lipscomb returns to action Tuesday when it makes its first road game of the season to Nick Denes Field to take on Western Kentucky in Bowling Green at 3 p.m.
