NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Lipscomb’s All-American hurler Brady Puckett was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Week for his performance for February 20-26.
The 6-foot-9 junior tossed a one-hit shutout against Bowling Green Friday, his sixth career complete game for the Bisons. The righthander used just 96 pitches in the 2-0 victory, striking out seven with one walk.
He faced just two batters over the minimum, overcoming three errors in the contest. Puckett is 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 15.2 innings over two appearances this season.
The honor by TSWA is the second of Puckett’s career. He was also named the ASUN Conference Pitcher of the Week for the sixth time in his career, tying him with Boston Red Sox southpaw Chris Sale for the most all-time in the conference.
Lipscomb is back in action Friday at 2 p.m. for the first of a three-game series on the Plains of Auburn University.
