Baseball prepares for pair of midweeks

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb baseball team continues action with a busy week on the diamond. The Bisons host Alabama A&M at Ken Dugan Field on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before traveling to Clarksville on Wednesday to take on Austin Peay at 1 p.m.

The Bisons are coming down the final stretch of their regular season slate where they will play 12 games in 16 days.

Lipscomb (25-19) enters the midweek winners of its last five games, and in eight of the last 10, after sweeping Mississippi Valley State over the weekend.

AROUND THE HORN:

  • Michael Gigliotti and Hunter Hanks each enter Tuesday riding a team high 20-game on-base streak.
  • After swiping 15 bases over the weekend, Lipscomb shot up the ranks to eighth in the country with 92 steals on the year. Its 2.09 steals per game is sixth best.
  • Individually, Gigliotti ranks sixth across Division I with 26 steals. Lee Solomon is 19th with 21.
  • The Bisons are 15th in the nation with 243 walks. Gigliotti stands 13th nationally with 41. Cade Sorrells is 48th with 35.
  • Jake Perry leads the Bisons with 36 RBI, the fifth most in the ASUN. He also ranks seventh in the conference with a .520 slugging percentage.
  • The Bisons are the only team with two players in the top five of the ASUN in on-base percentage. Sorrells is second at .451, while Gigliotti is fifth at .438. NJIT’s Michael Anastasia is first at .463.
  • Solomon is fourth in the league with 14 doubles.
  • Denton Norman is tied for third in the ASUN with five saves.

 

UP NEXT:

The Bisons hit the road for their final road trip of the regular season this weekend for three games with Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers. Friday’s opener is set for 5:30 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. start on Saturday and a Noon finale on Sunday.
