Baseball gears up for SAF Dirt Classic

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Off to a 2-2 start, the Lipscomb baseball team returns home this weekend to host the Southern Athletic Field Dirt Classic, as Indian State, Kent State and Fairleigh Dickinson travel to the Music City.

The weekend slate kicks off at 4 p.m. Friday as Lipscomb and Indian State (2-2) get the round-robin tournament underway at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium. The Sycamores and Bisons will be meeting for the second time. ISU took a 10-6 decision at Dugan Field back in 2014.

That contest will feature a matchup of Joshua Colon against southpaw Tristan Weaver.

Saturday will see the Purple and Gold hit the field at 2 p.m. to take on Kent State. Bisons junior righty Chris Kachmar will look to pick up his first career win after getting a no decision in last weekend’s win over UNC Asheville where he pitched 5.0 innings and only gave up two earned runs with eight strikeouts.

Lipscomb will then wrap up the weekend with a 1 p.m. start time against Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday. Freshman Noah Thompson will make his second consecutive Sunday start on the bump. He will face off against righty Corey Zeller of FDU.

Live stats will be available for all three games. There will also be a live video stream available via Facebook Live via the Lipscomb Baseball page.
