Baseball ready for Battle of the Boulevard at Belmont

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb baseball team will be headed down the street for a matchup with Battle of the Boulevard rival Belmont on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at E.S. Rose Park.

The Bisons (8-8) head into the meeting having taken two of three from Michigan at home over the weekend.

The Bruins (6-9) enter having swept Eastern Kentucky during their weekend series.

Scouting Belmont:

  • Last weekend, the Bruins swept Eastern Kentucky at home by scores of 15-5, 6-4, and 3-2 to end a six-game losing streak.
  • Sophomore Matt Cogen leads Belmont with a .365 batting average. He also leads the team with 23 hits, 16 runs, 36 total bases, and has the team’s only triple.
  • Senior Cully Day has hit a team-high three home runs for the Bruins.
  • Senior Austin Reynolds has yet to allow an earned run in four appearances on the mound.
  • Freshman Kyle Brennan is 1-0 with a 0.87 ERA in eight appearances.


Herd Notes:

  • Last weekend, Lipscomb took two of three from Michigan. After losing a 16-11 slugfest in game one, the Bisons notched a 7-4 win on Saturday and a 4-2 win on Sunday.
  • Senior Jeffrey Crisan is hitting a blazing .485 to lead the team at the plate. He has also notched a team-high 14 RBI.
  • Junior Zeke Dodson is batting .400 and leads the Bisons with 22 hits, three doubles, two triples, and 35 total bases.
  • Dodson, Crisan, freshman Maddux Houghton, and sophomore Josh Martinez have each notched two home runs to tie for the team lead.
  • Senior Blake Thomas leads the Purple and Gold with 17 runs and nine stolen bases.
  • Noah Thompson is 2-1 so far on the mound for the Bisons with a 1.89 ERA in four appearances.
  • Robbie Knox (1-0) owns a team-high ERA of just 1.06 after eight appearances this season.
  • Kyle Kemp has notched four saves on the season. He has posted a 1.00 ERA.
