Baseball plays host to UNC-Greensboro this weekend

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb baseball team will host UNC-Greensboro for a three-game series this weekend at Ken Dugan Field in Nashville.

The Bisons (8-9) head into the duel fresh off a series win over Michigan last weekend. However, Lipscomb dropped an 8-7 loss to rival Belmont on Tuesday, as Jackson Campbell delivered a walk-off double to give the Bruins a Battle of the Boulevard victory.

The Spartans (12-4) bring a 5-game winning streak into the weekend after a series sweep of Lafayette and a 3-2, midweek victory over Winthrop on Wednesday.


Series Info:

  • Friday – March 16 at 4 p.m.
  • Saturday – March 17 at 2 p.m.
  • Sunday – March 19 at 1 p.m.

Scouting the Spartans:

  • UNC-G has knocked off two Power Five teams this season with wins over Tennessee andWake Forest.
  • Cesar Trejo bats a team-high .525 and leads the team with 31 hits, 24 RBI, and 54 total bases. 
  • Trejo and Dillon Stewart have each blasted three home runs for the Spartans.
  • Matt Frisbee owns a 2-0 record in four appearances. 


Herd Notes:

  • Last weekend, Lipscomb took two of three from Michigan. After losing a 16-11 slugfest in game one, the Bisons notched a 7-4 win on Saturday and a 4-2 win on Sunday.
  • Senior Jeffrey Crisan is hitting a blazing .457 to lead the team at the plate. He has also notched a team-high 15 RBI.
  • Junior Zeke Dodson is batting .400 and leads the Bisons with 24 hits, three doubles, two triples, and 37 total bases.
  • Dodson, Crisan, freshman Maddux Houghton, and sophomore Josh Martinez have each notched two home runs to tie for the team lead.
  • Senior Blake Thomas leads the Purple and Gold with 18 runs and nine stolen bases.
  • Noah Thompson is 2-1 so far on the mound for the Bisons with a 1.89 ERA in four appearances.
  • Robbie Knox (1-1) owns a team-low ERA of just 1.42 after nine appearances this season.
  • Kyle Kemp has notched four saves on the season. He has posted a 1.00 ERA.
