Baseball treks to Purdue for weekend set

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Lipscomb baseball travels to BIG TEN country this weekend for its first road trip of the season to take on the Boilermakers of Purdue in a three-game series at Alexander Field.

With the chance of snow being an issue, the teams have updated the weekend schedule. There will now be a doubleheader on Friday with game one beginning at 1 p.m. CT. The finale is now scheduled for Saturday at noon, but could be moved to noon on Sunday if necessary.

The Bisons (9-12) are coming off an 8-7 loss to Middle Tennessee in 10 innings on Wednesday. The loss was the fourth in five games for Lipscomb.

The Boilermakers enter the weekend 9-9 after having lost their previous six matches, including a three-game sweep at Saint Louis.

Live stats will be available for all three games, while Purdue is also working to make video webcasts on BTN2Go available for all three games.

SCOUTING PURDUE:

The series will be the home opener for Purdue after playing the first 18 games of the season on the road.

Purdue is batting .280 as a team with 11 home runs, 29 doubles, a .374 on-base percentage, 68 walks and 18 stolen bases.

Skyler Hunter (.375) leads a trio of hitters for the Boilermakers. He has 27 hits, two triples, 13 RBI and five stolen bases. Nick Dalesandro (.368) leads the team with six doubles and six stolen bases, while Jacson McGowan (.318) has a team high six home runs, 21 RBI, 11 walks and a .636 slugging percentage.

The pitching staff sports a 4.20 ERA with 114 strikeouts and 70 walks in 154.1 innings of work. Tanner Andrews paces the squad with a 1.84 ERA and 28 punchouts. He is 2-2 in 29.1 innings of work.
