LAKEPOINT, Ga. – With his career at Ken Dugan Field coming to a close, Lipscomb’s Lee Solomon went out and put on a show. For his efforts in helping the Bisons clinch a spot in the ASUN Championship over the weekend, he was named ASUN Baseball Player of the Week, announced by the league office Sunday.
Solomon collects his second career weekly honor after leading Lipscomb to an important series win over Florida Gulf Coast. He combined to go 6-for-11 with a pair of home runs, five RBI, six runs, two walks and a stolen base in three games against the Eagles.
In the opener, the senior second baseman went 3-for-4 with a long ball, two RBI and a season high four runs scored. Then after collecting a RBI single in game two, the Columbus, Ohio native got the Lipscomb faithful on their feet with a 2-for-3 performance that saw him drive in two runs and scoring another pair. He hit a 2-run bomb in the fifth inning to help the Bisons extend the lead as part of an 8-run frame.
For the weekend he slashed .545/.667/1.182 to lead the team in all three categories.
Lipscomb will open its postseason run on Wednesday in the first round of the ASUN Championship hosted by North Florida in Jacksonville. The 5th-seeded Bisons will match up with 2nd-seed Jacksonville at 2 p.m. in the second game of the tournament.
