SCOUTING THE COMPETITION:

Sophomore Connor Montgomery showed some power at the plate for the Huskies hitting two home runs and driving in four runs. In 2018, NIU finished the season with an overall record of 20-36, going 9-18 in conference play.
  • Bradley finished its season-opening weekend going 2-1 against Central Arkansas. The Braves won the first two games of the series with scores of 5-2 and 4-3 before losing the finale 13-9. The Braves finished the 2018 season with a record of 32-19 going 11-10 in conference play. They were picked to finish fourth in the 2019 Missouri Valley preseason poll.
  • Western Michigan heads to Nashville with a 0-3 record after getting swept last weekend at Southeast Missouri State. The Broncos hit .248 for their opening-series. WMU ended the 2018 season with a record of 23-25, going 12-13 in conference play. They were picked to finish eighth in the 2019 MAC preseason poll.

AROUND THE HORN:

  • As a team the Bisons have a 2.33 ERA, which is the best mark in the ASUN and ranks 33rd in the nation.
  • The Bisons pitching staff is allowing just six hits per nine innings. That mark is good for second in the conference and 24th nationally.
  • David Graves leads the team in batting average with a .417 clip and in extra-base hits with two doubles and a home run on the season.
  • Zeke Dodson is second on the team in batting average at .375. The senior has collected three hits in eight at-bats.
