Baseball Starts Week with Back To Back Games

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb baseball team has a full slate of games this week starting with two midweek matchups, as the Bisons will face Austin Peay on Tuesday and Memphis on Wednesday.

Both games have been rescheduled for 2 p.m. starts instead of the original 4 p.m. start times.

Lipscomb will hit the road for the first time this season in its game at Austin Peay, but will return home to Ken Dugan Field for its matchup with Memphis.

The contest with Austin Peay will be available through radio on the Governors radio network and the game versus Memphis will be available to stream on Facebook Live on the Bisons homepage.

  • The Governors are off to a 3-6 start for the 2019 season and went 0-2 in last weekend’s series with Indiana State. The third game was postponed.
  • Austin Peay’s biggest win of the year came on February 27, as it was able to upset No. 1 ranked Vanderbilt 7-6.
  • David Martinez is Austin Peay’s top hitter with a clip of .462 on the season. Martinez is second on the team in doubles with three and has four RBI in 2019.
  • The Tigers have an overall record of 4-6 and went 2-1 over the weekend in their series with Middle Tennessee.
  • Colton Neel was recently named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. The outfielder and left-handed pitcher has hit .308 over the last four games with two doubles and three RBI. He also picked up his first career save last weekend.
  • Hunter Goodman has been productive at the plate for Memphis leading the team in doubles (6) and RBI (10). He ranks third on the team in batting average at .268.



  • Lipscomb will look to get back in the win column after getting swept over the weekend by Xavier.
  • Sophomore Maddux Houghton has been one of the best hitters for the Bisons during the season. He leads the team in batting average at a clip of .433, which is the fifth best in the ASUN, and hits at 13. His six RBI on the season ranks third on the team.
  • Chris Bashlor continues to produce for the Bisons hitting at a .414 clip and leads the team in RBI with 11.
  • Tevin Symonette stole three bases over the weekend adding to his team-leading mark of six, which is also tops in the ASUN.
  • David Graves paces the Bisons with six extra base hits on the season. Out of his eight hits, five have been doubles to go along with one home run.
  • Elgin will be making his second start and third appearance on the season. The freshman has an ERA of 6.23 with three strikeouts over 4.1 innings of work.



Lipscomb will have a three-game home series March 8-10 versus Hartford. Friday’s first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m., Saturday is slated for a 2 p.m. start and Sunday’s finale will begin at 1 p.m.
