Baseball Hosts Belmont In Battle Of The Boulevard

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb baseball team kicks off an eight-game home stand on Tuesday versus Belmont at 6 p.m. in the second installment of the Battle of the Boulevard this season.

The Bisons (21-18, 5-7 ASUN) return home from their conference series at NJIT over the weekend, which saw them take two out of three games. The Purple and Gold dropped the first game of the series, but bounced back by winning the next two.

Tuesday’s game will be available to stream on ESPN+ and live stats will also be available.



Lipscomb – RHP Erik Gutierrez (0-0, 7.00 ERA)

Belmont – RHP Korey Bell (1-3, 6.29 ERA)



  • The Bruins come into the contest with an overall record of 19-20 and are 14-7 in Ohio Valley Conference Play.
  • Belmont swept Murray State over the weekend and has gone 6-4 over its last 10 games.
  • The Bruins are hitting .246 as a team and are led by senior infielder Zach Ehrhart with a clip of .282. Ehrhart leads the team in hits (44) and ranks third in doubles (6) and RBI (23)
  • Korey Bell will be making his 10th start of the season on Tuesday and has allowed 24 earned runs on 35 hits over 34.1 innings of work.



  • The Bisons came away with a statement victory the first time these two ball clubs met beating Belmont 18-3 on March 12 at E.S. Rose Park.
  • The 18 runs scored in that game is the highest amount Lipscomb has scored on the year.
  • Lipscomb is hitting .283 as a team and has five players hitting over .300 on the year in Maddux Houghton (.364), Chris Bashlor (.352), Cade Sorrells (.326), Zeke Dodson (.308) and David Graves (.303).
  • Haddon Adams had himself a game in the series finale versus NJIT over the weekend. The junior went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and one RBI.
  • The Bisons also showed off their speed on the base paths versus NJIT stealing a total of seven bases in the series finale. Houghton picked up four steals, Adams had two and Dodson had one.



Lipscomb will continue its home stand with a weekend series versus conference foe Stetson April 26-28. The series will begin with a 6 p.m. first pitch on Friday.
