Baseball Heads To Liberty For Final Road Series

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lipscomb baseball team hits the road for the last time this regular season for a weekend series against Liberty, May 10-12.

The Bisons (26-21, 10-8 ASUN) come into the contest taking two of three versus North Florida in their last time out.

With rain predicted in the forecast, game times are subject to change. Be sure to follow @Bisonbaseball on Twitter and check Lipscombsports.com for any updates.

Friday and Saturday will be broadcast through Liberty’s radio network and Sunday’s game can be viewed on ESPN+. Live stats will also be provided for all three games.

 

PROBABLE STARTERS:

Friday – RHP Chris Kachmar (7-3, 4.07 ERA) vs. RHP Andrew McInvale (8-1, 2.76 ERA)

Saturday – LHP Noah Thompson (3-5, 6.11 ERA) vs. LHP Joseph Adametz (6-2, 4.27 ERA)

Sunday – RHP Joshua Colon (5-3, 2.72 ERA) vs. RHP Noah Skirrow (3-5, 3.94 ERA)

 

SCOUTING THE FLAMES:

  • The Flames have an overall record of 33-15 and sit in second place in the ASUN standings at 12-6.
  • Liberty defeated Duke 9-3 in its midweek matchup on Wednesday and took two out three last weekend at Kennesaw State.
  • Andrew McInvale ranks as one of the top pitchers in the ASUN with his league leading eight wins. His 2.76 ERA is also of the best in the conference and ranks fourth.
  • Liberty’s offense leads the ASUN in number of categories versus conference opponents including runs (125), hits (186), RBI (121) and batting average (.302).
  • Will Wagner leads the Flames bats with an average of .322. The sophomore infielder also has collected 11 doubles, 34 RBI and has stolen seven bases on eight attempts this season.

 

AROUND THE HORN:

  • The Bisons sit in third place in the ASUN standings, one spot behind the Flames, with a conference record of 10-8.
  • Lipscomb has recently fared well against conference opponents winning its last three conference series.
  • Chris Kachmar is the reigning ASUN Pitcher of the Week after leading the Bisons to a 1-0 victory by throwing a complete game shutout and allowing just four hits in his last outing versus North Florida.
  • Kachmar’s seven wins on the year are tied for the second most in the ASUN and the senior right-hander’s 73 strikeouts are the sixth most in the conference.
  • Joshua Colon, much like Kachmar, also threw a complete game shutout in his last outing versus North Florida. Colon allowed seven hits and struck out two Ospreys over seven innings to lead the Bisons to a 1-0 victory.
  • Colon has been one of the best pitchers in the conference when it comes to not giving up runs. His 2.72 ERA ranks third in the ASUN.
  • Sophomore Maddux Houghton continues to lead Lipscomb in hitting with an average of .333, which ranks second in the conference.
  • Senior first baseman Cade Sorrells tops the conference leaderboard in RBI with 46 on the year.
  • As a team, the Bisons are hitting .252 versus conference opponents with 89 runs on 140 hits.
  • Lipscomb has stolen 65 bases on the year, which ranks second behind North Alabama in the conference, and is led by Houghton with 14.

 

UP NEXT:

The Bisons will return back to the Music City for the final three games of the regular season May 16-18 versus North Alabama. The series will begin on Thursday with a 6 p.m. first pitch.
