ATLANTA, Ga. - For the second straight week senior Chris Kachmar has been honored with an ASUN weekly award and was named ASUN Co-Pitcher of the Week behind a spectacular outing over the weekend, announced by the league office on Monday.
Kachmar shares the honor this week with North Florida's Brad Deppermann.
The right-hander followed up his last outing, which was a complete game shutout, with another complete game and led the Bisons to a 9-1 victory over Liberty on Friday night. After giving up one run in the first inning, Kachmar held the Liberty offense scoreless for the remainder of the game on six total hits and also struck out six batters.
With his complete game performance, Kachmar now has eight wins on the year, which is tied for the most in the conference. The East Greenville, Pennsylvania has also been one of the top punchout pitchers in the ASUN and ranks sixth in strikeouts with 79 on the season.
This is the second career ASUN Pitcher of the week award for Kachmar and the third for the Bisons this season. A Lipscomb player has now been honored with a weekly award for the third week in a row.
The Purple and Gold will close out the regular season with a home series versus North Alabama, May 16-18. The series will begin on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
