Meet The Herd: Baseball Newcomers

NASHVILLE - With Opening Day nearing, Lipscomb baseball would like to feature the new faces of the team this season. Get to know The Herd by checking out the details on some student-athletes below.

Jordan Wilkie #10 l Freshman l INF l Cartersville, Ga. (Cartersville High School)

Why did you decide to come to Lipscomb?

As soon as I stepped on campus it felt like home. It's not too big of a university and I'm big on relationships so I thought it would be a really good place for me to further my academics and baseball career.

What is one thing you're looking forward to in your first season at Lipscomb?

I would say the relationships. We've got a good team that brought me in and they all welcomed me and made it feel like home.

Do you have any nicknames that you grew up with or that your teammates call you?

They don't call me by my first name. They just call me Wilkie. I don't think I've been called my first name since I stepped on campus.

Do you have any pet peeves?

I wouldn't call it a pet peeve necessarily, but I'm a clean freak. Every little inch of my room and space is clean.

If you could be apart of any sports team in history, what team would you be on?

I would say the 1995 Bulls. I'm a big basketball fan, I grew up playing it and I just think that would be amazing playing with all the legends.

Trey Ham #14 l Freshman l C/INF l Perry, Ga. (Tattnall Square Academy)

Why did you decide to come to Lipscomb?

I decided to come to Lipscomb beacuase it's kind of the same atmosphere my high school was, which is a small Christian community and really based on family.

What is one thing you're looking forward to in your first season at Lipscomb?

I'm just looking forward to all the challenges. I've never had any challenges like this just because it's new and college baseball is just something different, so I'm excited about the new adversity I'm going to face.

If you could play any sport other than baseball, what would you play?

I'd play football 100%. I played football when I was younger until I got to high school and then I got really serious with baseball. I just really loved the commradery that you have with football. You have it in baseball, but it's just different with football.

If you had to travel by car, plane or boat, which would you pick?

Car, 100%. I get really sea-sick on a boat and I get, I don't know what you call sick in the air, but I get sick in a plane. I also have to be driving if I'm in a car or in the front seat or else it's not good.

If you could have dinner with one person, who would you pick?

Yadier Molina, the catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals just because I like his game and how he does things.

Tanner Morgan #26 l Freshman l LHP l Franklin, Tenn. (Christ Presbyterian Academy)

Why did you decide to come to Lipscomb?

I wanted to stay close to home and I wanted to play for Coach Forehand because I thought he was a great coach and a great mentor for me.

What is one thing you're looking forward to in your first season at Lipscomb?

I'm super excited to be with this group of guys and to learn a lot coming in as a freshman. We have a bunch of older guys that I can learn a lot from and I think we are going to have a special season.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

I'd probably say Madagascar because I love animals. I'd never been there, never been that far away, so I'd like to live there for a while.

What is your favorite movie?

Space Jam for sure.

Since your a local kid, what is your favorite thing about Nashville and the surrounding area?

I would say that there is just a ton to do. Nashville is authentic as it is, so I feel like there is a ton to do and you can make great friends here.
