Having been a part of the Lipscomb baseball program for the past eight seasons, James Ogden was hired fulltime to lead the Bison pitching staff in Summer of 2013 after spending the 2013 season as the interim pitching coach.
A former pitcher for the Purple and Gold, he began his coaching career as a student assistant coach in 2008 after suffering a career-ending arm injury the previous season. That year the Bisons claimed the Atlantic Sun Tournament Championship advancing to the NCAA Tournament where Lipscomb downed eventual College World Series runner up Georgia in the first round.
After finishing his bachelors degree, Ogden stayed on with the program as a graduate assistant completing his Masters Degree in 2010.
Ogden then transitioned into the volunteer assistant role for the 2011 and 2012 seasons where he worked with the Bisons outfielders and pitching staff as well as overseeing the day-to-day maintenance of Ken Dugan Field.
Ogden was promoted to interim pitching coach in early 2013. A standout at St. Mary's High School in Paducah, Ky., Ogden began his collegiate career at St. Catharine Junior College where he helped lead the team to back-to-back super regional appearances and a combined record of 87-18.
