Karen Robichaud is returning to her alma mater as the new track and cross country coach for both men and women at Lipscomb University.
Robichaud was on the Lipscomb cross country team, winning the Most Valuable Runner award in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
She has been the cross country coach for Brentwood High School in Brentwood, Tenn. since 2001. In 2004 Robichaud was named Tennessee High School Female Cross Country Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High Schools Association. In 2003 she was selected as the 2003 Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Female Cross Country Coach of the Year.
"Karen is a great fit for our program," said Steve Potts, Lipscomb's Director of Athletics. "She had an exceptional career as a student-athlete here at Lipscomb and she has been successful coaching in a high quality program at Brentwood High. Karen's enthusiasm for cross country and track is a valuable motivational tool. We are delighted in her decision to join the Lipscomb University athletic family. "
At Brentwood Robichaud directed boy's cross country team to a third place finish in the state in 2003. In 2003 and 2004 the Brentwood girl's cross country team finished first in the state.
In 2002 she added the role of assistant track coach at Brentwood High. In 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 the Brentwood girl's track team finished as state champion.
"I am extremely excited about working with Lipscomb runners." Robichaud said. "The gifted athletes that I've met so far are highly motivated and eager to improve. Working with these teams is ideal; it will merge my passion for running with a desire to help athletes maximize their potential. I am grateful for this opportunity and am committed to helping Bison runners succeed."
Robichaud was named Miss Lipscomb her senior year. She has been honored by Lipscomb as representative of the decade. She was named to the All-Trans South Athletic Conference team in 1997. She competed in the NAIA Cross Country National Championship Meet in 1996 and 1997.
Robichaud received a B.S. degree in Health and Physical Education from Lipscomb. She earned a Master of Science in Exercise Science from Middle Tennessee State University in 2002.
