LakePoint, Ga. - For the fourth-straight year, the Lipscomb Bisons are atop the ASUN Conference all sports standings in the race for the Bill Bibb Trophy after the conclusion of the ASUN fall sports season. The Bisons also sit in first for the Sherman Day Trophy for the third-straight season after capturing two women's conference titles. North Florida has a perfect 100 percent mark in the Jesse Fletcher Trophy race.
Lipscomb opened the 2016-17 fall slate with a victory at the ASUN Women's Cross Country Championship, winning the title for the fourth-straight season. The Bisons also earned a share of the ASUN Volleyball regular season title, while adding a second place finish in the women's soccer regular season. On the men's side, Lipscomb finished in second at the Cross Country Championship, before adding a third place finish in the men's soccer regular season. Lipscomb has earned 102 of a possible 117 points in the combined all sports race. They have picked up 67.5 points out of 72 in the Sherman Day Trophy race.
FGCU finishes the fall in second place in the Bibb Trophy race, narrowly ahead of North Florida. The Eagles have earned 90 out of 117 possible points and sit in second place in the men's and women's races as well. The women's soccer team won the regular season once again to provide a big lift in the Sherman Day Trophy race, with the volleyball team finishing in third. In the Jesse Fletcher Trophy race, FGCU's men's soccer team finished in second place to grab 18 points for the Eagles.
North Florida is on top of the Jesse Fletcher Trophy race as the men's teams for the Ospreys were outstanding in the fall. The Ospreys cross country team secured its first men's title in program history, while the men's soccer team earned its second-straight regular season title, this time they sat alone atop the ASUN standings with a 5-0-1 record. They have earned 45 out of 45 possible points on the men's side, while the women sit in fifth after the fall season.
Kennesaw State rounds out the top half in the Bill Bibb Trophy race earning 64.5 out of 96 points, while Jacksonville (55.5/117) sits in fifth. Stetson, USC Upstate and NJIT round out the overall standings.
Only five of the 19 ASUN Conference titles have been awarded for the 2016-17 season with the next conference championship being the Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship on Feb. 23-24th in Winston-Salem, N.C. at the JDL Fast Track.
