Sanderson signs Denny, Butler to NLI
Lipscomb basketball coach Scott Sanderson has announced the addition of two more players for the 2012-2013 season. Forward Talbott Denny from, Tucson, Ariz., and point guard JJ Butler from Abingdon, Md., near Baltimore, have both signed their national letters to play for Lipscomb.

Don Meyer, a former college basketball coach who has impacted countless athletes both on and off the court, was presented with the 2012 John Lotz “Barnabas” Award by the FCA. The award presentation was made during the FCA Coaches Luncheon at the NCAA Men’s Final Four in New Orleans.

When the final buzzer sounded Feb. 29 in the Atlantic Sun Tournament the basketball career of Jacob Arnett also ended. But even though Arnett will no longer wear a Lipscomb uniform he will still be on campus as he enters the College of Pharmacy.

As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, the NAIA recently announced a 75th Anniversary All-Star Team featuring 60 players and 15 coaches. Lipscomb's Philip Hutcheson, John Pierce and Don Meyer were selected to the team.

The men's basketball team lost a battle with Mercer 61-53 to end its season in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic Sun Tournament in Macon, Ga. Freshman Zavion Williams led Lipscomb with 17 points.

Lipscomb enters the eight-team General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Tournament at the University Center on the campus of Mercer University as a No. 7 seed. Wednesday night at 7:30 central time they will face No. 2-seeded Mercer, the tournament host. The game will be on ESPN3 and 102.5 The Game.

Senior center Justin Glenn was named to the Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference team, the league announced Tuesday. Glenn has a 3.4 grade point average and graduates this summer with an undergraduate and graduate degree in accounting.

Freshman forward Malcolm Smith was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team, the conference office announced Monday. The Clarksville, Tenn., native averages 9.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in 30 games.

When center Justin Glenn walked off of Don Meyer Court for the last time there was a tear in his eye. The sadness wasn’t over the fact he had fouled out of the game Monday. But the realization that he would never take another shot or grab another rebound at Allen Arena was an emotional one for him.

The Lipscomb Bison utilized a strong second half shooting performance and dominated in the paint in a 74-71 victory at Kennesaw State Saturday. Freshman Malcolm Smith led four Bison in double-figures with 21 points.

Lipscomb concludes the 2011-12 regular season Saturday against Kennesaw State at the Convocation Center in Kennesaw, Ga. The game will be carried on 102.5 The Game. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. and coverage begins at 3:45 with the Lyons Chevrolet pregame show.
