Hartwell, 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, played one season at Rend Lake averaging 10 points and six assists per game.
"I like everything about the situation at Lipscomb," Hartwell said. "The school and the area seem great, and the coaches are going to be great to play for. I think we have a great chance to win a lot of games."
He played high school basketball at Columbus North High in Columbus, Ind., where he served as team captain as both a junior and senior. He made the state high school coaches' association all-star team; and was also All-Conference. He was named All-Area Player of the Year. He averaged 19 points and four assists per game his senior year of high school.
"Brandon has been the hardest working player I've seen," said Jay Payne, coach at Columbus North. "He has spent more time on the court developing his game than any player I have had."
He is the son of Tracey and Greg Hartwell.
