NASHVILLE, TENN. – Lipscomb center Adnan Hodzic’s season can be described by almost any term other than sophomore slump.

Hodzic, a native of Sarajevo, Bosnia, doubled his scoring output from 8.9 points in his freshman year to 17.6 this year on his way to being named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference First Team.

“As the season went on he got better and better and better,” said Lipscomb head coach Scott Sanderson.  “I think his best days are still ahead of him because of his work ethic and how good of a player he wants to be.”

Hodzic had scored in double-figures in 25 consecutive games and has scored more than 20 points in ten games this year.  He has seven double-doubles on the year.  Hodzic is converting 59.6 percent of his shots.

Hodzic’s selection to the first team was the first for Lipscomb since Eddie Ard was selected as a sophomore in the 2005-06 season.

Redshirt freshman forward Brian Wright was named to the All-Freshman team.

Wright averaged 6.6 points on the season and has increased his output to 10 points a game during Lipscomb’s current eight game winning streak.

“He shot it well over the last part of the season shooting over 50 percent from the 3-point line,” Sanderson said.  “He’s also a solid defender that can guard multiple positions.”

Belmont’s Alex Renfroe was named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year.

Renfroe, James Florence (Mercer), Ben Smith (Jacksonville), and Kevin Tiggs (ETSU), join Hodzic on the first team.

Garfield Blair (Stetson), Courtney Pigram (ETSU), Daniel Emerson (Mercer), Bobby Davis (USC Upstate) and Jonathan Rodriguez (Campbell) were named to the second team.

Rounding out the All-Freshman team are Reggie Chambers (Florida Gulf Coast), De’Marion Gordon (USC Upstate), Lorne Merthie (Campbell) and Kurtis Woods (Kennesaw State).  Merthie was tabbed as Freshman of the Year.

Jacksonville’s Ayron Hardy was named Defensive Player of the Year while Jacksonville coach Cliff Warren was named Coach of the Year.
